
THE BIG EVENT

This is how it will all go down:
1. The Website:
You input all of your generous Dream info HERE. The form includes all the key details, such as date, time, location, description, number of participants, and price per participant.

2. SAME AS LAST YEAR:
Online events will go live THE DAY BEFORE THE LIVE EVENT on Friday, November 21 at 7pm!
This will allow folks to use the Forum to sign up for events separate from our party, happening the following night.
3. The Event:
GRU-Dream Believer!
Featuring performances by a variety of talented GRUsters, the in person event is where you can bid on silent auction items as well as live bid items. Be sure to check the Dreams Page to see which items will be bid online and which will be bid LIVE.

BEFORE THE EVENT
Need a location for your event? If you're an official GRU member you can reserve the building for Dream Auction events, for FREE! Just email Kristen at manager@grandriverunitarian.ca Include your preferred room, the date & time of your event, the number of people expected, and that it's for the Dream Auction. Please do this before you submit your event.
Submit your Dreams! Use this form to submit all Dreams. It's recommended to have the dates and locations for all events arranged prior to submission. They will be checked for clarity and then posted on the forum.
Contact Rev. Jess if you end up with a vacant (free) seat, or if you can add an extra guest who couldn't participate in the auction.
View all the Dreams and plan your bids! They will all be in listed as separate posts, under the different categories. You can also use the search bar to find specific Dreams.
Create an account so that you can comment and bid on the items once they are live, opening at 7 pm on Friday, November 21.
Ask questions or suggest a "WISH" in the discussion and wish categories.
Dream Buck$ and EMPTY Seat$. We want to keep the FUN in FUNDraising and include as many people as possible, so we are again offering gift vouchers that can be redeemed for any Dream Auction purchase. Fill out the form created by Rev Jess by November 16: https://forms.gle/M1B4BWk6W3auhr7e9. This form also includes an invitation to be on a contact list for when free seats or extra seats come available over the course of the year (through cancellation or otherwise). Voucher recipients are known only to Rev. Jess and the finance folx.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21
Online sign-ups and bidding open at 7 pm.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22
We'll be downstairs in Whitton Hall to have a family friendly party, starting at 7pm, featuring food, a fun live auction, a silent auction, Blind Date Books for sale, and great tunes from a variety of talented GRUsters.
Tech Support: If you are having trouble signing in for the online portion of our Dream Auction, come by between 6 and 7 pm, where a volunteer can assist you in making bids, in the Window room.
Live Auction: Some items will be selected for LIVE auction. They will be listed on the forum, but will not be available to be bid on in the forum. YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO BID LIVE IN PERSON. You can bid by proxy if you aren't able to attend.
Please contact us if you'd like to vote by proxy.
In Person Silent Auction: Some items will be selected for in person at the live event only silent auction. They will be listed on the forum, but will not be available to be bid on in the forum. YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO BID LIVE IN PERSON. You can bid by proxy if you aren't able to attend. Please contact us if you'd like to vote by proxy.
Blind Date With A Book: Blind wrapped books with a mysterious description! $10 each to take a chance on a new book!
NOTES ABOUT ONLINE BIDS
We are opening the online bids separate (the day before) from our party - we hope this will create an enjoyable experience for everyone. Sign up for the Dreams by using your name and email address as a comment on the post of all the Dreams you wish to sign up for. If you're signing up for yourself and a partner or friend to attend an event together, include their name and email address in the same comment.
The Dreams are on a first come, first serve basis (except silent auction items) - note that we aren't able to restrict the number of comments based on the event, and so we will institute a waitlist. For example, if an event you are interested in has six spaces, and you are the seventh person to comment, you would be first on the waitlist for the event.
Bid on Silent Auction items by typing your bid, your name, and your email address into the comments of the silent auction item you are bidding on.
NOVEMBER 30 - ALL ITEMS CLOSE AT 7PM
Bidding for the online Silent Auction will continue for the week, bidding will close on November 30. Highest bidder wins!
The committee will email Dream Auction purchasers - within approximately 72 hours - with a list of the Dreams they successfully purchased and an invoice for what they owe.
Payment can be by e-transfer, PayPal, or a mailed cheque. Please pay your Dream Auction invoice promptly once you receive it.
The committee will email all Dream Auction hosts/offerers a list of participants for each of your Dreams, plus the waitlist of folks who may be interested if a space opens up before your Dream.
